August Rush

This movie was pleasantly good. I remembering seeing the previews and thought it looked ok, but it was much better. The music in the movie was great, a good story, great acting, not much else to say.
I'll give a little about what this movie is about. August Rush is a story of a boy who is in an orphanage, who has been there since birth. He believes that he can feel his parents thru music. This child has the most amazing gift when it comes to music. He here's noises surrounding him and he puts them all together and all of a sudden he's listening to an orchestra with the sounds, amazing. Any way, the boy goes on a search to find his parents, of whom he's never met.

Rambo
Well Rambo sure done got a lot more gruesome. The first 3 for their time had lots of blood and gore, but this was a whole new level. You see people getting shot and their bodies rip in two, but the scenes cut to the next shot very quickly, so you don't see a whole lot.
Other than the bunch of gore, Rambo on the whole was a pretty solid movie. It picks up with John Rambo, pretty much living iscolated from the rest of the world, he lives on the outskirts of Burma and lives in a boat that he uses to go upstream and find dangerous snakes that the townspeople places bets on in snake battles.
Then one day a group of missionaries from the states come to see if they can hire Rambo to take them upstream in his boat into Burma so they can help the sick and wounded. Rambo who has lost all faith in humanity reluctantly takes them up stream. When the missioaries end up getting captured by the Burmanese armie, Rambo is then hired to take a group of mercenaries into Burma to rescue the misisonaries. We all know how this one is gonna turn out, but the surprise that I had with this movie is that Rambo doesn't do it all alone this time around, he actually works with the mercenaries.
Good movie

The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford
LLLLLLLLooooooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggggggg and Sssssllllllllooooooooowwwwwww. I went into watching this thinking, it was going to be something like Young Guns and Young Guns II movies, a typical western, lots of shooting and action. Boy was I mistaken, it started out with a scene that makes you think, ok right from the start a train robbery this is going to be a good movie, but that was it. Nothing the rest of the movie, just riding to someone's farmhouse and talk, then Jesse leaves and goes to another farmhouse and talks to some other people, then he does it all over again, sometimes going back to one of the previous farmhouses, but in winter. I should have realized it's gonna be a slow one, Robert Ford joined into the gang after the James gang was pretty much retired, but come on, throw us a friggin bone here, a little action would have been good.

Hitman
Lots of shooting and more shooting. Not as much as Shoot em Up, but still a whole bunch. Timothy Olyphant plays a hitman, who was raised essentially to keep going till the jobs done. His assignment is to kill the Russian president, but only to find after he completed his assignment that he didn't kill him and that he was set up and is now a target. And oh did I mention lots of shooting.

Michael Clayton
Finally got around to watching the movie. I'm not really sure what to think. The movie was slow, it had a good ending. I'm not sure if I agree with all of the oscar nominations that it's up for Michael Clayton (George Clooney) has a nack for negotiating with people to get what he wants, either by pursasion or by bribes. Michael Clayton works for a big law firm, that is essentially an outsourced lawfirm working for a much bigger client, who is up against an enormous class action lawsuit. The lead council for the firm has essentially a psycotic episode and Michael Clayton is a very good friend of his, is assigned to bring him back to sanity and get him back on his medication. The only thing is that the lead council may have been on to something that could sway the class action lawsuit, and the big client wants to silence everyone that knows something. Dealing with this and his day to day life is essentially what this movie is about.

Beowulf

Well just finished watching. It was sort of like Shrek meets 300. The animation in the film was amazing, I kind of wish that I had seen the movie in the theatres in the 3D. Action seens would have been great in the theatre, although they were pretty damn good at home, but you know what I mean. The movie itself was ok, I never read the book, so I don't know if the movie followed the story that closely. I would recommend the movie if you are looking for something with some great animation and action scenes, but for anything else, I wouldn't recommend the movie. Unless you want to see it because you read the book and want to see how closely it follows along. On a brighter note, it was a whole better than the 2005 release of the same story-- Beowulf and Grendle, which was a total waste of time watching.

The Comebacks

Well if you've got an hour and 40 minutes with nothing to do, this probably isn't going to fill that void either. This movie is a stupid spoof of sports themed movies. There was nothing in this movie that remotely resembled humour. This would be the old animal house movies gone bad. Actually the animal house movies were pretty damn stupid as well. Oh well, watch it if you want to, but I definately wouldn't recommend it, but hell I didn't recommend I Am Legend either.

I am Legend

Now I'm not sure if anyone else out there agrees with me or not on this one, but I thought that this was probably one of the biggest wastes of a few hours that I have ever spent. Yeah sure it has Will Smith and I usually like his movies, but I thought that this movie was waaaaayyy too long and boring. If you're haven't heard of this movie it's a movie about a man who is the last man standing after a plague destroy's most of the world and turned the rest of the world into monsters. Will's character is trying to find a cure for the monsters to tame them and even turn them back. There were a couple of quick moving camera scenes that kind of make you dizzy watching it, and the rest of the movie was Will going about his routine during the day, driving around with his dog, talking to himself and various manequins that he has positioned around the city so he can pretend that there is still life in the city. I know a lot of people that liked this movie, but I certainly wasn't one of those people.
